Dr. Leah Barreca
20+ Years of Cultivating Hope Through Change
I came to this field with a single goal: to help people make changes, no matter how small, to improve their lives. Encountering suffering, I discovered effective strategies that could help. So, with that thought and understanding, I got busy and built a CBT specialty with training in mental health clinics, medical clinics, and hospitals. Personal health challenges led me to add existential elements to my work, solidifying my desire to share these interventions. Patients addressing depression, anxiety, insomnia, headache disease, gastric disorders, rheumatological pain, grief, and aging shaped my unwavering belief in the transformative power of evidence-based therapies.
When mental health declines, so does quality of life. Let’s improve yours together. Essentially, I bridge what we know about the mind and body and offer practical, applicable strategies. Think of CBT as a personalized toolbox for your mind and body that targets the root of physical and mental health challenges. We will rewire negative thinking, enhance coping, and promote proactive behaviors to increase functioning and decrease distress. While not all problems can be "reversed," we’ll focus on short- and long-term changes that matter to you. Small changes can lead to gradual symptom management, improved quality of life, and sustained improvement.
My personal philosophy is forward-looking, optimistic, and hopeful. I believe things can improve through change, acceptance, or aligning with what’s most important, along with overcoming through creativity and resilience.
