About Dr. Leah Barreca

How My Commitment to Health Service Psychology Developed

Twenty years of honing my therapeutic skills in diverse medical and mental health settings shaped my unwavering belief in the transformative power of evidence-based therapies. Witnessing firsthand the struggles of individuals battling chronic sleeplessness, persistent headaches, gastric distress disorders, rheumatologic pain, challenges to healthy aging, and others led me to specialize in health psychology and leverage CBT-based solutions as both first-line and adjunctive treatments. Recognizing the demands of modern life, I have dedicated my practice to virtual therapy, ensuring equitable access to these specialized treatments regardless of location.

My experience in managing personal health challenges solidified my interest in sharing the CBT interventions that brought me relief. It is rewarding work that I balance with my professional contributions by training the next generation of psychologists and developing professional enrichment opportunities for the broader psychological community.
